Accreditation

Learn about our accreditation! Palm Bay Elementary is accredited by Cognia, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of PreK-12 schools and school systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. Cognia serves as a trusted partner to 32,000 schools and school systems—employing more than four million educators and enrolling more than 20 million students—across the United States and 70 other nations.

The accreditation process consists of a thorough external review that measures the school’s success on the Cognia Standards for Quality.

Cognia Standards for Quality

Cognia accreditation and certification are like no others. Their research-based performance standards give your institution a shared framework to achieve measurable, meaningful improvement. No other accrediting agency gives  actionable data from a team of professional reviewers—or continues to guide schools to leverage strengths for improvement.

There is no one type of school. Nor is there just one approach to teaching and learning. Yet regardless of a school’s size, location, philosophy or education model, it benefits from intensive, ongoing diagnostic reviews of its work, carried out by knowledgeable, well-trained, independent reviewers.

That’s why the Cognia Standards for Quality require each school to be reviewed in a way that is appropriate to its mission and purpose.

These Standards are research-based, comprehensive quality statements that describe conditions and factors that contribute to a quality educational experience and operational effectiveness. Our research confirms our beliefs that every school requires:

  • stable governance, management, and leadership;
  • a coherent course of study;
  • a reliable system by which to assess students’ progress;
  • instructors who have a clear understanding of what they aim to teach, how, and why; and
  • access to the resources they need.
